Quirinus, what is it ?

Salvete Omnes,

Quirinus is a Quirites publication. Quirites is a non sectarious French-law non profit corporation, open to every one, composed of enthusiasts of ancient Rome and of the many fields or influences that its civilization has produced, specially in France.

" Quirinus " is the old Sabin god, that the first Romans associated to Mars and Iuppiter. Quirinus may be seen like the personification of Rome, either directly, or via Romulus. Quirinus is also the protector of these farmers that were nearly all the ancient Romans. So it is not amazing if the god and the citizens share this same" Quiri -" etymological root. And not real amazing too that "Quirinus" came to us as a natural name for our newsletter.

Quirinus will propose to you, every four months, short articles on various fields of roman and gallo-roman life. These articles take place in twenty-thirty predefined columns such as " A roman museum " or " History ", that guarantee the continuity of Quirinus editorial line. Naturally, every column will not be necessarily treated in each Quirinus’s issue.

Quirinus thus hopes to be easy and pleasant to read, and interesting for all of you that are new or old ancient Rome amateurs, or are going to be.

Even if it does not try to compete with scientific publications, Quirinus will try to pull its contents up to its readers’ expectations, who are eager for sharp news or for documentation sources that can continue her/his reading of Quirinus.

Quirinus’staff is formed by members of Quirites, joined by every person interested in the publication of an article in Quirinus, even if she/he does not belong to Quirites.

Quirites taking part to "Nova Roma" network, a special Quirinus column will give news of this international non profit organization composed by romanity ‘fanatics’.

Last, one page is devoted to Quirites association’s activities.

You will find this Quirinus’s summary in the left navigation bar.

Have a pleasant reading, Quirites, citizen, and do not hesitate sending us your critics !

Ave, avete !
